Seaside Story

October 3, 2008

Now that we’ve spent a few weeks getting to know each other, we’re going to work together on a post.  Using this picture as a reference point, we’re going to be writing a story together.  The first commenter will start the story.  The second will continue what the first started and so forth.  Don’t post immediately after yourself, but feel free to jump back in once someone else has posted.

Poetry

October 2, 2008

This week, I’ve posted a picture.  Spend some time with it, and then write a poem based on how the picture makes you feel or what goes through your mind when you look at it.

Mad Laughter

September 26, 2008

blog-sound-clip

This week, listen to the above sound clip and then write a short story based on what you hear.  Some questions to get you started: Who’s laughing, and why?  What do you think is so funny?  Is the laugher coming in, going out, or waiting for someone to come in?  Where do you think this is taking place?

Can’t wait to read what you create!

Note: With the problems Edublog has been having, the sound clip has been working sporadically.  If the clip does not work for you, please check back later.

Welcome Creative Writers!

September 26, 2008

Hello to all you creative writers out there!  This blog is to provide a safe space for adults to explore creative writing.  After leaving school, the opportunities for fun creative writing decrease.  In some places, there are writing groups that meet, but this blog seeks to provide a forum for people who don’t live close enough to join a group, or for people who feel more comfortable meeting in an online medium.

To keep from stifling the creative spirit, there are very few rules associated with the Creative Writing Forum, but there is one we take very seriously: there will be no criticism of anyone else’s work at any time.

Each week, there will be a new topic starter posted on the forum.  Each post will also include a short set of instructions directing the writing for the week.  For example, one week the instructions might be to post a complete story in the comments section.  Another week, the instructions might be to post a section of a story to be added onto by other members of the forum.  If you feel a creative itch beyond what is posted for the instructions, that’s okay, too.  And suggestions for writing topics or ideas are always welcome!

Have fun and get creative!
